The Best Foot Forward (BFF) is a company formed by one of the co-founders of the Global Footprint Network “to deliver footprint analyses, recommend changes to increase eco-efficiency and to in turn reduce our impact on the planet,” (Chambers & Simmons, 1997, Our Story section). Based in the U.K. and catering primarily to European clients, the BFF provides an analytical look at the business and accounting side of sustainability, as well as the reduction of eco-footprints for all. Comprised of a small academically diverse staff, (one co-founder is an expert in eco-psychology and the other in Environmental Technology) they provide services based around carbon accounting, ecological foot-printing, sustainability consultancy, as well as a broad range of downloadable tools and resources “to engage users and demonstrate the relative impacts of alternative decision making,” (Chambers & Simmons, 1997, Tools section).
Another valuable service that is provided by BFF are interactive one-day courses aimed at educating individuals, small groups and organizations about decision making and issues regarding carbon and ecological foot-printing. Though none of us are going to fly to the U.K. to take a one-day course, it clearly demonstrates what is evolving in the corporate world with the greater awareness and concern around the health of the earth.
